So much food, so little time.
Savor.Good.Food in New Orleans continues with the The Rum House Caribbean Taqueria.
It all started with these Nacho that were topped with Caribbean jerk chicken. The cheese sauce on these nachos was not your normal nacho cheese sauce. They used this queso blanco sauce that had little cumin and ground chili added… it was so good! The chips were really good as well. All in all, this was a great start to the meal.
When you can’t decide what you want to eat… look for a combo. Thankfully they had combos, the one I ordered was called Mr. Biggs Plate. This combo came with 4 tacos, a Jamaican beef patty and a side of your choice. The taco options were really unique, which made it hard to decide. I finally decide on the following:
Brisket taco ~Chimichurri, drizzle of bbq sauce, cilantro and fried shallots
The Carolina ~ Pulled pork, jalapeno slaw, spicy vinegar BBQ sauce and a roasted corn relish
Fried oyster ~ Cornmeal dusted Louisiana oysters, caper relish and spicy remoulade
Chili glazed Shrimp ~ Fried shrimp, roasted poblano & red pepper relish and a rum chili glaze
I ordered fried plantains as my side. It was hard to choose a favorite taco as they were all really very good, definitely the most unique tacos I have ever eaten. The Mr. Biggs Plate combo was also a great deal, only $13.95 for all this food… another reason to love New Orleans!!
